Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classroom is a self-contained, kindergarten class. My student population consists of students with autism spectrum disorder, learning disabilities and intellectual disabilities.
Working with this population can be difficult, but it is super rewarding within this environment.
I teach the most interesting, caring, well-behaved scholars ever! My school is a student-centered environment filled with world-class teachers! As a team, we are continuously brainstorming ways to evolve as educators, and we are also advocates for family involvement in the learning process!
My Project
Dr. Seuss said that “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” This project will allow my students to reach that goal! By using the Fundations notebooks my students will be able to learn their letter names and sounds in a fun way. They will be able to attach baby echo to a pointer and point to all the letters they have learned. Eventually they will no longer need to point to letters because they will be reading! Once they learn how to read they will be able to complete their Go Math Interactive Notebooks independently. The Go Math Notebooks will allow my students to practice addition and subtraction skills on a daily basis.
By having these materials in the classroom, my students will be able to engage in their learning in a fun and hands on manner.
