My students need presentation materials for their Project Based Learning (PBL) unit. Chart Paper, and Chart Easel to hold the paper, and stand up desks for easy access to presentation props.
My students are part of the largest school district in New Hampshire. We proudly boast the highest ethnicity and language diversity in the state! My students belong to one of four middle schools in our district and come from a large diversity of socioeconomic backgrounds.
While being part of such a diverse school district gives my students advantages, they also have to deal with many challenges as well.
Many times funds for simple classroom supplies are not available on a per-family basis. Some of my students are also refugees, immigrants or transient due to family situations. While this gives them a world of personal experience and often makes them stronger than the average person, it also makes it difficult to focus, learn another language and fill in pieces of curriculum that may be missing.
My Project
My students will be creating projects to present to the world, not just their classmates. To help us prepare, we need chart paper for ideas , an easel to help us present, and stand up desks for active learning and easy access to materials and props for our presentations.
Our first project is titled "Small Acts to Change the World", where we will be creating actionable community service projects for our Manchester community.
Our chart paper and markers will help us brainstorm our ideas and get feedback from peers and staff. Our presentation to the school board would be much more professional if we had an easel to prop up our char paper, and we would love to have a few stand up desks to help us present with easy access to our presentation data and props. Also, stand up desks would help those students that need to be actively learning in the class.
Our projects are not just to show off our artistic talents, they are a way to learn while impacting the world around us, and to get ready for our future in business.
