This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students need your help! They come into the classroom every day with amazing school spirit. They are full of energy and come to school ready to learn each day!

As part of a vibrant STEM program where my students are getting constant instruction in science, technology, engineering, and math, they also have the opportunity to learn music!

Given this opportunity, they are enthusiastic when they are told they have the chance to learn a musical instrument. My students are very curious about musical instruments, and they simply just cannot wait to get their hands on them!

Most of my students come from diverse backgrounds and many speak other languages such as Spanish and Mandarin. Also, more than half of the student body comes from low-income households. With our school offering so many different programs to benefit students growing up in today's society, I am truly appreciative to be able to teach them an elective that is so tactile. With that, I am truly inspired that they are able to stay engaged in a music classroom with a positive mindset! I strive to give my students musical opportunities just like any other program in the Bay Area.

My Project

Our music program needs more flutes to add to our band classes! Lots of beginning students picked the flute this year and we barely had enough! We need to add more to our program so that we aren’t denying the opportunity to learn in the future!

In addition to new flutes, we also need more reeds for our clarinet and alto saxophone students!

Our woodwind supply is just low at the moment and we can use all the help we can get!

We had quite the number of clarinet and saxophone students join our program this year. With new beginners comes reeds accidentally breaking! We hope these new reeds will allow us to use them more wisely moving forward! We thank you so much in advance!
