My Students
We are the unique and special "Little Tigers" of a preK-5 elementary school in North Carolina. The students in our school come from many different and diverse types of backgrounds. The school has about 800 students and a high population of military children who are often dealing with deployed parents or parents away from home. The school also has a high population of children living in poverty. All the children at the school are very special and loved so much!
My Project
It is important for children in early childhood to develop good social and emotional skills, which influence their mental health and wellbeing, currently and in their futures. Emotional skills include being able to express, recognize, and understand your feelings and the feelings of others. Children who can understand and manage their feelings are more likely to succeed, are better at staying calm, and are likely to have higher self esteem.
FEELINGS MATTER!
I have a goal to help all the children in my school be able to express, understand, and discuss their feelings and the feelings of others. I also want to work with them on managing their feelings effectively and in positive ways. This will create more empathetic children. These materials will help me to teach feelings better to younger children in a fun and engaging way.
The Flower Feelings Learning Kit is a fun kit of engaging toys that teachers young children about emotional intelligence. These toys also create fun ways through play that are developmentally appropriate to help children talk about their feeling. Children with stronger emotional intelligence and more empathy will make for a better future for all.
