Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My 6th grade Language Arts classes are a mix of English and Spanish learners. They are exceptional students who want to learn and the most out of their education. It will be so much fun to see their faces light up when they see that other's care as much about their education as I do.
These students have so much potential, but lack of funding stops me from being able to reach their potential.
We have materials in my classroom, but this will push my students to want to achieve more. They are also fun activities for them to do.
My Project
I want to make a competition with my students to see who can read the most Sunshine State Readers. There are a lot of books within it, plus some series books that continue the book. I would love for my students to have the chance to read these books. Our titles include Nightbooks, Captain Superlative, 24 Hours fin Nowhere and many more.
Not only will these books help to increase my students' reading fluency, but these books will help to increase their reading comprehension.
I have many students who cannot read well and have no interest in reading. However, if I make it into a competition than I know I will have many students who want to participate in a competition.
