Our students are mostly English language learners on their way to becoming bilingual. Most of them come from Spanish speaking homes. They enjoy having access to varied multimedia that complements my instruction as a teacher.
I love how my class perseveres in achieving success despite the challenges.
I also enjoy seeing how they collaborate and motive each other.
I noticed when I used a trial of Flocabulary, they were very engaged and these educational rap videos helped them comprehend many concepts.
My Project
Flocabulary has music videos that our students will engage with because they are exciting and have clever rhymes about each concept. The website has videos for every grade and when from the trial period I noticed there are plenty for 7th grade.
Our students will benefit from educational music videos and a class instrument such as a ukulele.
We will be able to access the videos more than once and will not have to worry about a limited time to view them.
The three ukuleles will go to our three 7th grade classrooms and remain in those classrooms for years to come!
We can play the musical instruments and add catchy lyrics to help them learn or they can try playing themselves.
Some students get bored and distracted from every day instruction but these music strategies will spice up my lessons in all subjects including Mathematics, English, and Math and Social Studies. I can also let other teachers borrow the musical instruments for their classes.
