This project will consist of a 5th grade team and a 6th grade team of inquisitive students. These students were chosen to be on their respective teams through an authentic application process. The students had to complete a job application and provide the selection committee with two teacher recommendations. The applications students had to complete consisted of questions such as how they value & work with a team, how they balance school work & other activities, how do they handle conflict & disagreements, and what are their personal skills and interest. The selection committee then chose the top 10 students from each age group which they believed would be most likely to possess the FLL core values. The FLL core values consist of the following:
*We are a team.
*We do the work to find solutions with guidance from our coaches and mentors.
*We know our coaches and mentors don't have all the answers; we learn together.
*We honor the spirit of friendly competition.
*What we discover is more important than what we win.
*We share our experiences with others.
*We display Gracious Professionalism® and Coopertition® in everything we do.
*We have FUN!
My Project
Having a laptop for each of our two (5th & 6th grade) FLL Lego League teams will provide students the ability to be able to code their EV3 Robots to successfully compete in competitions. The laptops are essential for an FLL Lego League team to be successful.
The EV3 Robot software offered by Lego Education can be downloaded on the laptop.
The software will have the most options that are not offered on the chromebook versions of the software. The software is essential to be able to code the Ev3Robot.
My students would be extatic to finally be able to code their EV3 Robots at maximum potential.
