My students need WikkiStix, WikkiStix activity packs, magnetic blocks, plastic activity trays, a marble run set, and other fine motor skill activities.
Imagine walking into your very first school classroom EVER. For many of my sweet kindergarten students, this is the case! My students are general education students from various backgrounds in the middle Gerogia area ready to enter a world of learning! Our school and community are growing quickly and I want to meet the needs of my eager students in the best ways possible. They jump into this classroom each morning ready to learn and work hard to achieve their goals.
My Project
We need to strengthen our fine motor skills in order to meet the kindergarten performance standards. Each morning as students arrive in our classroom, we spend the first half hour playing with fine motor toys in order to strengthen these muscles while also having time to relax and start our day.
These wikki stix, marble runs, squigz toys, magnetic blocks, and other fine motor toys will help my students to really work on strengthening these muscles while also having fun.
These skills will benefit different subject areas such as math and writing. It’s difficult to write when you are unable to grasp a pencil or count when you are unable to grasp the manipulatives you are working with. All of these supplies will help my students to strengthen these muscles and better prepare them to work in other areas.
