My Students

Many of the students in my class live at or below the poverty line. They range in background and are faced with a variety of challenges both at home and in school. It is my goal, as an educator, to create an environment where students are able to leave their troubles behind for a while, and enjoy fun, engaging and memorable learning experiences.

A room of inquiry, creativity, and persistence is what I strive to create in my third grade math class.

Working with a total of 45 students, over two sections of math, I have a very diverse group of learners. My students range greatly in their level of mathematical understanding, but, as a whole, they are a lively bunch that enjoys hands-on experiences, a good challenge, and opportunities to collaborate with their peers.

My Project

My classroom technology and lesson designs have moved into the 21st Century, but my learning spaces and furniture were left behind. The traditional arrangement of identical tables, desks and chairs do not create a welcoming learning environment and at times make learning difficult for students with various special needs.

Help me make my classroom flexible and comfortable for my students with furniture that promotes collaboration, creative thinking and innovation.

With the addition of stools, stability balls, floor pillows and wobble stools, my students will be able to choose a learning space that makes them feel comfortable, matches their learning style, and promotes ownership over their own learning and growth.

Everyone deserves to work in a space that motivates and inspires them. Help me make that a reality for my third grade students this year and in the future.
