Our kindergarten has 19 learners from a variety of backgrounds. We have a wide-range of academic and social abilities in our classroom, but my main goal is to make learning fun for every single kindergartner!
Every learner has their own style of learning and all of those styles are taught in our classrooms.
We use many, many learning styles each and every day in kindergarten. From hands-on activities (kinesthetic), to watching and seeing (visual), to moving and singing (aural and physical), to working alone (intrapersonal), to working in groups (interpersonal), to using our reasoning skills (logical) - all types of learning are used and encouraged in our classroom!
Many students need to constantly be "active" to be successful. Giving students multiple seating options will help them to do their best work while learning. I like to give students the power of "choice" encouraging them to choose a spot (seat) to work where they can be the most successful.
Sit, kneel, lay down, stand, wobble; just learn!
My philosophy is I don't care "how" you learn; I just want you to learn. Providing options to my students will give them voice and choice to be successful in our classroom environment.
I do not believe in "assigned" seats for students. It all comes down to choice; make a choice where you can be the most successful. Giving students many different seating options will help them to choose where they can "sit" to be the most successful. Students will be able to choose from a variety of "seats" to work successfully: wobble stool, tall stool, floor, chair, band chair, crate. My philosophy is the more options available to learners the more it will create the most possible learning in our classroom.
