Help me give my students the option of flexible seating with wobble cushions, stools, and balance ball seats. Most students have difficulty staying on task while being asked to stay in their hard seat.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a 1st grade teacher to students who love to learn and play! I am an avid reader and love to show my students the wonders and doors reading can open. My students are never silent, which is the way I like it!
I believe that children learn best by working cooperatively and through play!
I encourage my students to read to one another, play fluency games with each other, and "show each other the ropes" when one is struggling with a certain method. What better way to learn how to read or do math than with a friend?
It is my hope that I can provide a safe, kind, and creative space for my students to learn at their own pace, their own way.
My Project
We were all once first graders being asked to sit still and focus on a single task. Most of us remember how difficult that was. Flexible seating allows for my students to release energy while actively learning. These seats consists of balance balls to bounce on while working, different sized stools, and comfortable cushions for those while like to work on the floor.
Making sure my students are comfortable is key to unlocking their potential.
By allowing students more options of where to work around the class, they get the freedom of where to complete their independent work while simultaneously being engaged. Some students will be able to use clipboards and work under their desks, while others may choose to sit in a fun colored stool and sit at a larger table with their peers. By allowing students to choose their seating, I give them the freedom to choose where they want to learn while simultaneously teaching them to be responsible for their learning.
