We were all once first graders being asked to sit still and focus on a single task. Most of us remember how difficult that was. Flexible seating allows for my students to release energy while actively learning. These seats consists of balance balls to bounce on while working, different sized stools, and comfortable cushions for those while like to work on the floor. Making sure my students are comfortable is key to unlocking their potential. By allowing students more options of where to work around the class, they get the freedom of where to complete their independent work while simultaneously being engaged. Some students will be able to use clipboards and work under their desks, while others may choose to sit in a fun colored stool and sit at a larger table with their peers. By allowing students to choose their seating, I give them the freedom to choose where they want to learn while simultaneously teaching them to be responsible for their learning.
