As a Special Education Teacher for students with disabilities in a K, 1, 2 classroom, I share my room with students who are creative, curious and energetic! I currently have eight students who may have been diagnosed with Autism, ADHD, Learning Disabilities or Emotional Disabilities.
Each student comes to school every day with their own unique challenges and struggles, but they always come ready to learn.
They do their best, but they need tools to help achieve success in the classroom!
My Project
In my 15 years of teaching, one thing that stands out is that our young learners love and NEED to move! As recent research has shown, many students have a much more positive experience if they are allowed to move their bodies while learning. My students have many special and unique needs. Having various types of seating in the classroom, students would be free to make a choice of which seating is best for their learning. We need wobble chairs, balance ball seats and inflatable donut.
By having alternative seating, students have their own space to spread out and have room to work.
Having alternative seating also helps with engagement. By having higher engagement, students will be more successful!!
