Mrs. Sloan from Cleveland OH is requesting flexible seating through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need stability balls to promote flexible seating in the special education classroom.

“I can do it!” are words I love to hear from my students. I teach special education in a low-income high poverty school district, and my students encounter barriers inside and outside of the classroom. Outside of the classroom, my students encounter lack of income, homelessness, and health and nutritional vulnerabilities. Inside the classroom, my students encounter barriers such as lack of prior knowledge and behaviors that impede their education.
I grew up in the same urban setting as my students.
Despite the many challenges they face, I will always provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences. I love teaching special education because I see the impact I have on my students every day!
Flexible seating is mind blowing! Students feel empowered when they have the power of choice in the classroom. We need stability balls. Engagement and participation will improve due to the movement the balls will allow. Physical fitness has been researched and proven to increase academic growth.
A great many of my students struggle with seating and being still due to their disabilities.
Many of my students enjoy movement and interactive lessons as they are kinesthetic learners. During reading groups or math groups, my students will be able to utilize the balls during instruction. The balls will reduce distractions and increase my students' ability to focus. The stability balls will be extremely beneficial for my wonderful super students.
