My students need flexible seating in the classroom. They are at an age where learning is not done sitting still and their seats do not allow them to have much wiggle room unfortunately!
This project expired on June 9, 2018.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
I have 21 smart, funny, and energetic 2nd graders in my classroom.
All of these students come from varied backgrounds; being very socioeconomically diverse.
Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best every day. They have so much energy and are so curious about the world around them. They love to learn and be successful everyday.
I teach at a Title I school in Maine where all students receive free breakfast and students also receive free lunch.
My students love to move around and keep their bodies active, even while I am teaching or they are doing their work. For a 7 year old, 6 hours in school can feel like a long time. The students should feel comfortable in their classroom and that it is a place where they can truly be successful. I have tried implementing stools, rubber bands on chairs, movement breaks, and various spots in the room for them to work but I don’t feel it is enough. Some of my students would greatly benefit from a stool that is meant for their body to wiggle in. It would greatly improve their academics in such a simple way!
