Flexible Seating to Promote More Learing and Happy Kids

My students need stools and chairs of various heights for different seating options in our flexibly seated classroom!

My Students

As a relatively new 5th grade teacher in a public elementary school, I am fortunate to have a very energetic, sweet class. They all bring something different to the table, and we have an incredible classroom community.

To say I have learned as much, if not more, from my students as they have learned from me is an understatement.

We strive for progress in our classroom. When students feel comfortable in their learning environment, they are happier and they are more eager to engage. Fostering a positive learning environment where students feel safe and are able to thrive is my ultimate goal.

My Project

My students will use the stools and Big Joe Aloha chairs of various heights to sit on in our classroom. We are starting with the lowest seating at the front. The seating gets progressively higher the further back students sit.

Students can have more of a choice in their learning environment.

My student already love some of the seating options that we have in place, and I know they will greatly benefit from more seating options. Since every child is different, they each have a preference about what is comfortable and how they want to learn. Accommodating their needs and creating a learning environment where they want to be is my priority!
