Flexible Seating to Meet the Needs of ALL Students!
Help me give my students a variety of classroom seating options to allow for flexible learning! Crate seats, bucket seats, cushions, stools, and balls will optimize student learning and engagement!
Small town, big dreams, & a school that cares. My students and I are very blessed to live in a small, close-knit community. Our Kindergarten classroom is a little family, and we enjoy working and learning alongside each other.
Our classroom is a mistake-making, laughter-sharing, independence building, brain-stretching sort of place.
Each and every student matters. We do thank yous, we do respect, we do praise, we do encouragement, we do our best, we do I'm sorrys, we do friendships, and we do learning. We are family.
The true strength in our classroom lies in the collaboration of the students - not in the knowledge of one expert. We work together to problem-solve, build each other up, and succeed. The early literacy & math skills along with social-emotional skills and listening & speaking skills, that we develop in Kindergarten, give our classroom of kiddos the foundation to reach any goals we set!
My Project
Classroom design greatly impacts student motivation and engagement. Sitting in traditional chairs at tables and desks is NOT comfortable. Apply this to adults - When we are comfortable, we are happier and more productive. Personally, I rarely sit at my kitchen table while working. I'm sure many of you can relate...so why not extend that to students?!
Research has proven student progress can be traced to flexibility and choice!
I envision my flexible seating classroom as an environment that inspires, engages, and motivates my kindergarten students. Flexible seating allows students to develop 21st century skills - collaboration, communicating, critical thinking, & creativity just to name a few.
My kindergarten students will be so excited when they are given the opportunity to work while sitting on stools, bucket seats, crate seats, cushions, and balls. This will prevent students from being uncomfortable, distracted, and wiggly like they are with traditional seating.
