My Project

I love teaching 6th graders because they are right at that incredible point between childhood and young adulthood—curious, funny, energetic, and eager to discover who they are as learners. They come into my classroom with big ideas, big emotions, and a growing need for independence. What they don’t always have is a learning environment that adapts to the way their bodies and brains are changing.

Flexible seating will give my students the ability to choose a space that helps them focus, collaborate, and feel comfortable.

The Flex‑Space Comfy Classroom Carpet will create a large, welcoming area where students can gather for small‑group lessons, independent reading, or collaborative work. This soft, open space is especially helpful for students who need room to stretch out or prefer learning away from traditional desks.

The loveseat sofa and oversized saucer chairs will offer cozy, supportive seating options for students who benefit from a calming, comfortable place to work—especially those who struggle with anxiety or need a quiet corner to reset. The storage ottomans will serve as both seating and organizational tools, giving students a place to sit while also helping keep our classroom tidy and functional.

To support literacy and organization, the tree‑style bookshelves will display books in a way that is visually appealing and easy for students to access. The boho pillow covers will add comfort and warmth to our calming corner, helping students feel grounded and safe when they need a moment to breathe or refocus.

Each of these resources meets a real need for real kids. These seating choices will help my 6th graders take ownership of their learning, build confidence, and stay engaged during lessons that require focus and stamina. Most importantly, flexible seating will help create a classroom where every student feels valued, supported, and capable of success.
