My Project

Each student in my class has distinct characteristics and needs. They exhibit a range of qualities such as curiosity, enthusiasm, and engagement in the learning process. Instead of confining themselves to their desks, they seek alternative spaces like crawling under a desk to sit on the floor and read, or standing at a side counter with their Chromebook to write stories. They love asking lots of questions and are eager to find answers. These students have a lot of energy, love getting involved, and aren't afraid to take chances. They enjoy the excitement of an unpredictable classroom environment, one that keeps them guessing and interested in learning.

Students that have a difficult time sitting still, like most of the children in our society today, cannot focus while they are forced to sit in a standard, stationary chair.

I am requesting two items to support the learning of my students. Wobble stools and stand up desks. These items will be helpful in my classroom because I have many students that need to be able to move (wiggle) while they work. Others always request to stand while they work because they know that they will be more focused. There is a side counter in my classroom, but it can only accommodate 3-4 students at a time. Oftentimes, students just need an alternative to being stuck in a chair that is attached to the desk; which greatly limits movement. I am hoping to start with three-to-four standing desks and 6 wobble stools. This may not be enough, but it is a great place to start. Having flexible seating in the classroom will help me to have a fully productive classroom setting so all my students can learn in a spot that works best for their individual needs.
