Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students face so many challenges, but they realize that education is the vehicle to drive them towards a more promising future. With so many issues, it is my mission as their educator, to take them away and rescue them from their pressing worries through the joys of meaningful experiences and exposure to what life has to offer.
Our school is extremely poverty stricken, but we don't take this rank as an excuse to have a pity party, but rather as a means of motivation.
We strive to plant seeds of hope and reassure the students that education is the key that unlocks the doors of opportunity and future success.
By understanding that there is more to life than what meets the eye, it is my belief that my students will do what it takes to beat the odds, defy the statistics and embrace the world of education and all it has to offer.
My Project
It is hard to sit still. We all know it. Kids have an even harder time as they are expected to sit nicely for 7+ hours each school day and listen. In today's world, our students need stimulation to help increase that focus. Enter: flexible seating.
If you teach in an elementary school, you will have students who are impulsive and need to move in order to successfully get through their day.
We are in need of 4 wobble seats and a set of bouncy bands, so my students have the opportunity to move when needed. This will help promote our learning throughout the day and increase attention as the fidgets are worked out through bouncing and wobbling. Being, not only able but encouraged to move, will promote a positive environment in my classroom. Being able to move will also decrease stress for my friends who tend to be more impulsive and in need of movement. Please help us promote learning, through these new options for flexible seating.
