Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from an urban area with diverse backgrounds, so they are facing multiple life issues. This can be difficult for anyone, so it is highly important that they are afforded a classroom environment that promotes their learning and well being first and foremost.
They are enthusiastic, ambitious, and motivated learners.
I wish for each one of my students to have the opportunities that they so rightfully deserve in a classroom environment that provides ample and worthwhile learning experiences.
My Project
Young students need flexible seating as a classroom option. My classroom has the standard classroom tables and seats for my students to do their work. I want to give them additional options because children learn more and are less distracted when they are comfortable. It is important that I incorporate flexible seating options in my classroom at the start of the new school year. The portable lap desks will give them that option when they are working on literacy and math activities and reading picture books or listening to audible books. The lap desks will allow them to feel comfort and learn all at the same time.
It's a new era where students need options that will enhance skills and give them the drive to learn as much as possible.
The write and wipe sight word practice cards is an activity that can be utilized on the lap desks, and help students practice sight word memorization skills and writing skills. The addition match-up and magnetic numerals and operation signs sets will give my students a fun and educational way to hone on their mathematical skills independently or in small groups. I wish for my students to have the best and most valuable choices available to them in the classroom because the classroom is their home away from home.
