Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Most public school classrooms are filled with standard, plastic chairs that are uncomfortable to sit in for long periods of time. My students love it when they get the chance to pick their favorite book and escape into the world of their book. However, this pleasant journey is usually disrupted because my students have to readjust their bodies frequently to find a comfortable position in their seats.

My goal is to provide my students with comfortable, flexible seating options that will improve their focus during independent reading time and important small group activities.

The chairs available at my small group table are just as uncomfortable as the seats my students have at their desks. Small group instruction is an essential component of the work it takes to help students grow academically. Unfortunately, my students often lose focus during our small group lessons because of the rigid chairs they have to sit in which negatively impacts their academic progress.

I humbly ask that you consider donating to my project so that I can purchase flexible seating options for my students. I'm sure that these comfortable and easy-to-move seats will increase student engagement during our small group activities and independent reading time.
