My students need lap desks, floor seats, bean bag chairs and a variety of other seating options to fit their individual needs, collaborate in groups, and practice autonomy in their learning environment.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Hi everyone! I am incredibly excited to be entering my third year as an educator. As a fourth grade teacher, I am confident my new strudents will be rich in vibrant personality, silliness, and creativity. My scholars will develop a passion for reading and math, sharpen skills for how to debate with one another about various topics, and will continue to foster a deep passion for learning. I believe they will continue to thrive with help from quality resources in the classroom.
This year, I’m looking to create an environment of autonomy in our shared space.
Over the last two years, I’ve begun collecting flexible seating options for scholars that allows for an increase in choice and accommodations for scholar needs. My students are coming to school with many different educational experiences thus far and I want to make sure this is the best year yet for them!
My Project
The different options for seating will compliment the autonomous work my scholars participate in. Traditional desks are infrequently utilized by many of my kiddos, finding the carpet and pillows more comfortable to use during independent work. The wobbling chairs will allow for scholars who move around more to have options that are safe (no tipping chairs!) and the floor seating options will give the kiddos who work best in different areas of the room access to a comfortable way of doing so! Funding this project would help create a warm, comfortable, and inviting space to my new group of students!
