My students need stability ball chairs, wobble chairs and cushions, and kick bands so that they have multiple choices in seating and are able to better focus on their learning.

My Students
Do you remember the first grade wiggles? You were so excited about learning and so proud of the things you were learning to do on your own. Sometimes it was a challenge to sit still with all that excitement for learning!
My students have a love and passion for learning!
They come to school every day charged up and ready to tackle new challenges. I am amazed by the way they think outside the box to solve problems and by their energy!
The majority of the students at my school are English Language Learners with Spanish being the primary language spoken at home. Over 80% of students also qualify for free lunch. We are a Title I school as well. None of these things hold us back, they just make us shine even brighter!
My Project
Flexible seating gives students the opportunity to show responsibility by choosing what will help them focus their learning best. During independent work time, students have the ability to choose where they will work. Making sure students are comfortable in my classroom will help to ensure their academic success.
Allowing students to make choices gives them ownership of their learning, and when they are comfortable, they are more focused and engaged on completing their tasks with pride.
They are also less disruptive of their peers. The difference is evident in their work when they are given more choice.
The products I chose for my project are age appropriate flexible seating choices for first grade. We need stability ball chairs, wobble chairs and cushions, and kick bands. These products will give my students more choices in seating. Students will also have choice during whole group time with these products and not just during independent time. I know this will increase engagement in my classroom even further!
More choices for my students will lead to success!
