This school year has been the first time that I have implemented flexible seating in my classroom. Even though I was a little apprehensive about it, the students and myself have been loving this change! It is something that I will continue to do from here on out!
After using flexible seating for one year, I am wanting to add some new spaces as well as update the ones that didn't work out.
I knew this year would be a learning curve for me, and certain pieces of furniture that I had purchased before, didn't hold up as well as I would have hoped. I have noticed a change in the students in my classroom since doing flexible seating. They love being able to change their seats daily and choose a spot where they can learn best for that particular day.
Their ability to choose their best spot, helps to improve their focus during instructional time. Also, being able to hear my students say how comfortable they feel in my classroom is something that I love hearing. I love that my students look forward to coming into my classroom.
My goal for this project is to continue to update the seating in my classroom and receive furniture that will be a little bit more sturdy for my students next year and years to come. There are still some areas in my classroom where I would like to update and create more seating in a creative way to fit my flexible seating goal.
