My students need wobble seats, lap desks, lamps, etc... so they can have a relaxing, comfortable classroom environment to help them become successful, lifelong learners!
At the elementary school where I teach, our number one priority is providing a safe learning environment. Every child in my classroom knows I care about them and that I am committed to giving them a world-class education. Students respond to my nurturing by striving to do their very best each day.
Our elementary community was affected by Hurricane Harvey, however the students strive daily to listen, learn and be respectful!
My class consists of 21 students with a variety of learning needs. Two students receive resource services for learning disabilities, three students receive medication for attention issues, and two students receive speech therapy. All my students, regardless of ability or obstacle, are enthusiastic and conscientious students, and each one is a valued member of our classroom community.
My Project
Flexible seating within our classroom allows my students to take charge of their own learning. By letting them choose to select where they will read or where they will complete learning activities, students are empowered to be self directed, independent learners. Currently, my students settle in a variety of places in our classroom – finding the place that best suits them -- even though we do not have the additional seating to make them comfortable. We use pillows, padded crate-style seats, a padded bench, or students sit on the floor with clipboards.
I have seen firsthand that a relaxing, comfortable classroom environment helps students become successful!
The products I have selected will help my students enjoy reading independently and enjoy participating in learning activities throughout the school day. The additional seating will also make for a more productive learning environment as six/seven-year-olds understandably become restless and need to move about.
The wobble seats can be used at a student’s desk or in another location. Wobble seats will help students get the “wiggles” out. Lamps will allow me to turn down the harsh overhead lighting that hurts my students’ eyes. Throughout the day, my students often ask me to turn off the lights and let them work in the dark. The comfy Big Joe chairs and Kids Lap Desks will also provide additional comfortable floor seating options. These items are lightweight and can easily be moved from place to place by children. Importantly, these items will benefit not just students who have been diagnosed with educational challenges, but will benefit ALL students!
