Flexible Seating in Kindergarten!

My students need a comfy couch to add to our reading area and offer more flexible seating opportunities in our kindergarten classroom.

My Students

My kindergarten students come to school with a wide array of skills and knowledge as some have attended preschool or daycare and others have stayed home. We are a diverse school with students coming to us from many different backgrounds and experiences.

We pride ourselves on building a strong sense of community and instilling a love of learning in all children.

My students are active learners and curious about the world around them. They love learning in a variety of ways including interacting with technology, creating/experimenting through hands-on learning and engaging in play. Because they come to kindergarten with a broad spectrum of learning experiences and background knowledge, it is important to meet their many diverse needs and learning styles.

My Project

I am excited about offering flexible seating options for my kindergarten students this year! In kindergarten, we are constantly moving and often our learning is spread out throughout the classroom at tables, chairs and on the floor as students engage in small group and partner work. Flexible seating choices allow my students to be more collaborative in our classroom space.

A comfy couch will provide my students another choice in flexible seating that they can utilize during learning throughout the day.

Students will be able to gain independence and find ownership in choice as they find a seating option that best fits their learning style. Flexible seating on the couch can be utilized throughout the day, but specifically will be offered during literacy and math, choice time, independent reading and small group project work.
