My Students
I have the honor of teaching 1st grade. My students are eager to learn and have a lot of energy! It is my goal to give them a well-rounded education this year, including social, emotional, and academic growth.
I want my students to remain excited about school and passionate about their educational journey, always striving for excellence.
To do this, I incorporate hands-on, activity-based learning opportunities in my classroom each and every day. I give my students the opportunity to be explorers and critical thinkers with each lesson. I act as the facilitator, but give them the opportunity to come to conclusions and create their own learning opportunities.
My students come from a low income/high poverty community, with minimal parent participation. 97% of our students receive free or reduced-priced lunch and our population of English Language Learners is high as well.
My Project
These balance ball seats will help my students, especially the ones with extra energy, focus while in reading centers and Guided Reading. These will be available to my students through out the day, as needed, as well.
They will help me create an optimal learning environment for all of my students.
The students will have the opportunity to choose to sit on a ball instead of a chair to help them focus and participate in class. This is just one step in making my classroom a flexible seating classroom, in which the students can choose from a variety of chairs and areas in the room to help them be most successful in the classroom.
