Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My fourth-grade classroom consists of amazing bilingual students enrolled in a two-way immersion dual language program. My students are eager and willing to learn each day! Our class is a blend of linguistically and culturally diverse students with a wide range of learning abilities in both Spanish and English. Our school has more than three-quarters of students from low-income households. Some students rely on the school for supplies, clothes, and food from local churches to take home for their families.

My students are creative, thoughtful and full of curiosity!

They enjoy hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to use their creativity. My students come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to strengthen their language skills in both English and Spanish. They are my inspiration and what drives my passion as a teacher!

While each student in my classroom loves learning, the method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly. My hopes are to further incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and learning options with the use of alternative seating to ensure that each student's needs are met.

My Project

This project will help provide more comfortable and flexible places for my students to explore, read, and work together. Flexible seating will enable students to be comfortable and it will help them to create their own space to do their best learning.

Each child is unique and has different learning styles.

By adding some comfortable seating options, it will help my students spread out so they have room to think and to collaborate. This will also help to promote a more creative learning environment. I am asking for bean bag chairs for floor seating, yoga balls for low tables, and wobble stools to help with fidgeting. My students and I would love it if you would help our classroom become more flexible for our learning!
