It is hard to describe a typical day in my classroom because I like to mix it up a lot! It is my goal every year to challenge and engage students in a variety of ways, especially through projects and real-world examples.
My students come from all different backgrounds and it is really interesting to see them all learning together and from each other.
My students are honors students, so I have to always find new ways of keeping them challenged and engaged.
My Project
Our classroom is in the process of transforming into a fully flexible environment! Last year, students loved being able to choose from a wide variety of seating, and reflections showed that the unique environment helped them focus and learn.
This year, we're taking flexible seating to the next level!
The buoy stool is great because it is a "big kid" version of a Hokki stool; not only do they adjust in height, but they also wobble and swivel! This will benefit many students who have a hard time sitting still, because it will improve their concentration and keep their blood flowing. The other chairs in this project will replace basic plastic classroom chairs for ergonomic and comfortable options.
