it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students face so many challenges, but they realize that education is the vehicle to drive them towards a more promising future. With so many issues, it is my mission as their educator, to take them away and rescue them from their pressing worries through the joys of meaningful experiences and exposure to what life has to offer.
Our school is one hundred percent poverty stricken with only one other in the state of South Carolina.
We don't take this rank as an excuse to have a pity party, but rather as a means of motivation. We strive to plant seeds of hope and reassure the students that education is the key that unlocks the doors of opportunity and future success.
By understanding that there is more to life than what meets the eye, it is my belief that my students will do what it takes to beat the odds, defy the statistics and embrace the world of education and all it has to offer.
My Project
When I have to work at home, I like to sit on the couch and do my work or lay in bed. It's easier for me to focus when I am comfortable. It's the same situation for my students. They need more comfortable options for seating, so our classroom feels even more like home.
My students are what make our classroom feel like home for me, and now it is my turn to help it feel a little bit more like home for them.
We are in need of flexible seating options, like yoga balls and standing/sitting desks. These options will allow my friends with extra energy release some of the energy while they are learning. The standing/sitting desks will also help my friends who want to sit on the floor or stand up all of the time. Best of all, yoga balls and standing desks will allow us the movement to stay healthy and flexible. These new options will help make our classroom more comfy and remind us of home!
