As a relatively new 5th grade teacher in a public elementary school, I am fortunate to have a very energetic, sweet class. They all bring something different to the table, and we have an incredible classroom community.
To say I have learned as much, if not more, from my students as they have learned from me is an understatement.
We strive for progress in our classroom. When students feel comfortable in their learning environment, they are happier and they are more eager to engage. Fostering a positive learning environment where students feel safe and are able to thrive is my ultimate goal.
My Project
We would love to have Kore wobble chairs in our classroom. I implemented flexible seating in my classroom a year ago. I have seen the benefits of flexible seating and I am an advocate for it! As I learn what works and what could be improved upon, I am constantly changing and looking for ways to improve my practice. I ask myself, "How can I best adapt to meet the needs of each of my students?" That being said, I am looking to have more alternative seating options because of how well the flexible seating has worked! Having four Kore wobble chairs will be beneficial to my classroom for a number of reasons. I have 28 happy and active fifth grade students. Being able to move during instruction helps them to focus on the tasks that they are required to complete.
The Kore wobble chairs will allow students to move in their seats, thus increasing student engagement!
As I said before, my ultimate going is to create a positive learning environment where students feel safe and happy. Allowing students the space and ways to move when learning is a step in the direction of continuing to foster the positive learning environment that I desire for my students!
