My students need a variety of seating options (5 stability balls and 1 wobble chair) to keep them focused, engaged, and comfortable during small and whole group lessons.
My students walk into my classroom with the biggest smiles, and full of energy with a love for learning. They enjoy coming to an environment that makes them feel safe and comfortable.
This project will service 25 high energy first graders who love to have fun and do hands on activities.
I try to mix things up throughout the day to keep my students engaged. These students enjoy movement around the classroom and collaborating with one another on assignments and activities. Ultimately, my goal is to find the best way for every student to learn.
The majority of my students receive free or reduced lunch.
My Project
First graders are busy and need to move throughout the day to do their best learning. Flexible seating allows that. Flexible seating is beneficial to student learning in so many positive ways. One of which is "choice". Choice leads to more student engagement because the students feel more invested and responsible for their work.
The implementation of flexible seating will allow my students the ability to get their wiggles out, yet still control their bodies while working on their assignments.
Let's face it, desk and chairs don't work for everyone. I want my students always engaged, motivated, and satisfied with their classroom environment.
