Help me give my students flexible seating options, such as a balance ball, a beanbag seat, and floor seats, that will allow them to move and wiggle in appropriate ways while completing their school work.
My first graders are a group of diverse students ranging in learning abilities. They are enthusiastic about school and they are all eager to learn and grow. My students are so proud about their personal progress and achievements. It is rewarding to see how excited they can be about learning, sharing ideas and working together.
We have a wonderful school community made up of fantastic students, helpful parents, and caring teachers.
Our school is one of the oldest in town and we lack newer resources for our students. I work to create a safe, welcoming and enriching learning environment for all of my first grade students.
My Project
I always allow opportunities for students to move and have "wiggle breaks" throughout the day, but some students still have a difficult time sitting still in the classroom. I want to incorporate flexible seating, such as floor seats, ball chairs and beanbags, into my classroom to help meet the needs of all of my students.
Flexible seating options are very important for first graders because it allows them to wiggle and move in appropriate ways.
This movement allows students an active outlet without disrupting their learning. I am excited to see how flexible seating will encourage my students to find the best spot to help them stay calm, focused and productive.
