Flexible Seating for Underprivileged First Graders
My students need flexible seating in the classroom to promote choice, physical health (being able to move), comfort, community, and collaboration. These seating options stimulate students sense of touch, allowing them to focus (ADHD, ADD, ASD).

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach multicultural students from all over the world! Several of the kids in my class have been in refugee camps where they have went through many different circumstances to get here! My goal is to provide a safe and nurturing learning environment for these students!
I was there teacher in Kindergarten and fell in love with their personalities!
I am now looping with them to first grade! I have bought several flexible seating options on my own, but with my salary--it gets tight. Thank you so much for your offering!
My Project
First graders love to move! I want to provide a supportive and engaging classroom that allows them to do just that!
Flexible seating is a great way for students to have some degree of control over their environment.
We are requesting a wobble chair and bouncy bands. I have read many studies promoting this student- centered approach stating how it encourages students to stay focused and productive. A 2012 study for the University of Minnesota found that students participated 48% more in a classroom with collaborative group seating versus traditional lecture style seating, also improving their performances on standardized test!
