My Project

Research indicates that students who have the freedom and flexibility to engage in movement while they are working have improved focus, engagement, and participation. Flexible seating is one way to provide this critical choice and movement for students. Class sizes in our school district are BIG! Students are expected to sit in uncomfortable desks and chairs for the entire school day. This is tough for kids! Providing them with these comfy cube chairs will give them an alternative choice to a hard chair during math and science instruction in the classroom.

Throughout my 16 years as an educator, I have seen the tremendous positive impact that flexible seating has on academic and behavioral outcomes.

As I move to a new school next year, I hope to bring excitement and a fresh look to my new classroom. I strive to provide my students with choices and the opportunity to self-regulate and make decisions that meet their needs for optimal learning. This project will help me on that journey!
