My students need alternate seating in the classroom. To help students with better attention/focus, less restlessness, and increased participation the students can move to the Edison area rug, bean bag chairs, or the stools.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have been teaching for ten years. I enjoy the challenges that the students bring to the classroom. My students are from all walks of life. I anticipated that I would be teaching multi-cultures and want to be the best teacher to my students. I went to school to get my Masters in Multi-Cultural Education. I wanted to be able to connect with each and every one of my students. The students and I have a mutual respect for each other.

I teach in a low income/high poverty school.

The students attend each day ready to learn. The students enjoy school. After a school break, many of the students say they are happy to be back in the classroom.

The students in my classroom are "super students" who are ready to learn, unwavering, prepared, excellent and trustworthy. The students are eager to learn and are very excited about being active learners.

My Project

When I work, I want to be comfortable and sometimes it is not at a desk. The Big Joe Bean Bags, Edison area rug, and stools will provide the students with a different option besides a chair and desk. Alternate seating helps students improve participation, better attention and focus, and most importantly higher academic performance.

Students spend close to 6 hours in the classroom and they need to have flexible seating.

That may be having an area rug to move to so they can collaborate with their group. The students will love having the bean bag chairs to read their favorite book. The stools will be at the kidney table so students have a place to sit during small group instruction.

I have seen how choice can positively affect my students work and demeanor and hope that the additional options will help us grow even more!
