Flexible Seating For Students With Different Needs
Help me give my students flexible seating and foster their learning by giving them the opportunity to choose a spot that will allow them to learn and stay focused!
I teach 7 and 8 year olds. Every year I look forward to meeting a new group of excited 2nd graders! Every child is different in many ways, from their personality, to their learning style, to intellectual abilities; not two students are ever the same! This makes my job so special! I love the diversity and I see how flexible seating fosters their learning! I enjoy seening my students taking the responsibility to choose a spot were they will work independently, with a buddy or even in a small group! I often see how they encourage each other to make smart choices about where they are going to sit because they understand how it's going to affect their learning!
My Project
Flexible seating provides students with options! It allows them to easily pair up or work in small groups. It gives students the option to choose which spot is best for them to focus and process information! In my classroom I have seen the benefits of flexible sitting during whole group, small group and independent learning!
Throughout the day I allow students to decide where and how they want to sit to learn.
Students get to choose a spot that is most comfortable for them; comfortable students tend to be more relaxed and focused. I have also seen how it motivates them to keep their favorite spots.
