My classroom is a self-contained language and/or learning disabled special education classroom. We try to incorporate as many visual, tactile, kinesthetic, and auditorial modes of learning as possible!
We have GREAT students that love to learn but are not always granted the best opportunities in life.
We work hard, use what we have to the best of our advantage, and try and be as creative as possible with resources. I want my students to know that hard work DOES pay off and, most importantly, there ARE nice people in the world that want to help others! It is too often that these students are exposed to events that lead them to think there are no nice people left. By showing them that we were granted something we wanted by nice people who only want to help, I hope to encourage them to be kind people to others, as well!
Our class is very grateful for everything we do have, and any additions will not go to waste! Thank you for your support!
My Project
The tall table will be used to accommodate students that learn best when standing or moving around. Currently, we only have tables that are at their seated level. A table that is taller will allow students to stand and move around as they work. Furthering this thought, the wobble chair will be used for students that also have a difficult time focusing when sitting still.
For many students, sitting in one position for the entirety of a period can be a difficult task and can lead to distractions and loss of focus.
A tall table and a wobble chair can help to alleviate these issues by giving students the opportunity to move around while they are working.
I have seen my students focus better when given the chance to move around and wiggle their bodies. When they are not focused on the need to move around, they can focus better on the activity. In my classroom, I want to be able to provide the resources that will aide in my students' ability to focus and control their bodies.
