My Students

Third grade is a turning point in most students' school career. My students have a wide range of abilities, curiosity and goals. Our group strives on classroom community.

My class is made up of 21 of the most amazing young scholars.

We strive to continue to grow our community by building relationships with one another. Of these 21, three are English Language Learners, two receive resource services, and one is in speech. The most valuable tool to provide to a student is flexibility in their learning and environment.

My Project

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, students have taken an interest in alternative seating. Students have found that they are more engaged in their learning when provided with flexible seating.

I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating.

Flexible seating allows students to be active learners in their own education. It provides them the opportunity to sit in a bean bag, in a wobble chair at their desk or a community desk, sit on the floor with a clipboard, and many other options. Ensuring students are comfortable in their learning environment has a positive impact on their education and participation within the classroom.

The products I have chosen to be included in my classroom will provide my students with the wide flexibility and options to create an effective learning environment. The wobble chairs and floor chairs are lightweight and can be moved around the classroom as needed throughout the day.
