My students need flexible seating! It will allow students in my classroom the chance to get their wiggles out, while still maintaing focus and attention to the lesson.

My Students

My students motivate me on a daily basis to do my best. My fifth graders are inquisitive, determined, brave, and motivated. Students work in my ELA class through a Balanced Literacy model. Students come to me for their reading, writing, vocabulary, and grammar instruction.

We've created a classroom community built on respect, and my students and their families value high levels of instruction.

Sharon Elementary was named a 2016 National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. We continue to educate beyond expectations!

My Project

Flexible seating opportunities will increase student focus and learning within the classroom, specifically during our Daily 5 Rotations in ELA. Classrooms that are student centered develop independent learners.

Studies show kids are more focused and alert when they are moving around.

The new seating improves posture, increases blood flow to the brain, and enables students to have choice in where they want to learn.

Flexible seating will allow students in my classroom the chance to get their wiggles out, while still maintaining focus and attention to the lesson. During independent learning time, students will get to choose their seat and location in the classroom.

The items that we're requesting include a standing desk, wobble chairs, balance balls, stools, and bouncy bands for the students' chairs. These items will increase productivity in the classroom, and give students more choice as to where they'd like to sit during independent learning time, or during our Daily 5 Literacy Stations. We currently have very limited options for flexible seating in my classroom, and the few options that we have, get taken up very quickly. These materials will become the coveted spots within my classroom. Thank you for helping make this possible.
