I have an Autistic Support Classroom that is new to the school. I work in a Title One high school in Philadelphia. The students that I work with struggle with expressive and receptive language abilities. Visuals are an essential tool to help students with autism understand their environment and express their wants and needs.
I am trying to make my classroom a second home to my students and I focus on creating a safe, fun environment.
This "homey" environment is where we spend most of our day and it is important that we have the supplies that we need. I am thankful for all of your support!
I'm asking for an inflatable chair and a wobble chair since they have a bean bag and a yoga ball. We had curtains on the windows held with thread but we have had to remove them because they pass more time on the floor than hanging, so we are asking for the rods.
My students spend the whole day with me in the classroom and it gets to a point where they are already uncomfortable in their chair/desk.
We don't have cabinets in the classroom, that is why we are asking for a bookshelf to organize our supplies. My assistant and I are asking for rolling chairs because ours in the classroom are broke and at some point in the semester we aren't going to have any.
