My students need flexible seating options to move freely amongst the room and increase focus. Flexible seating increases student's attention and focus, and makes the classroom more inviting and comfortable.

My Students
Our students come to school every day excited to learn and explore their classroom. They are very hard workers who strive to do their best every day. We set goals and work to achieve those goals. They are always putting forth their best effort. Our school serves kindergarten through fifth grade. Our school has a very diverse population.
We have students ranging in all academic abilities as well as students speaking at different levels of English fluency.
In our school, 47.1% of students are Hispanic with 31.5% being limited English proficient. Our students strive to show PRIDE (perseverance, respect, integrity, determination, and empathy) on a daily basis. Our school is a great place to learn and grow.
My Project
When we create an environment where students are able to move around the classroom, students are able to better focus. Research shows that students are more distracted when sitting in a standard desk chair that is hard and uncomfortable.
I am seeking to get seats for students to use around the classroom to complete work.
By having extra seating options will be able to move around the classroom to find a seat that best suits their learning style and attention. Flexible seating includes swivel seats, stools, a balance ball chair, and floor desk spaces. Students will be able to take a floor desk space to freely move to a spot and write or use a chrome book. The balance ball chairs will allow for students to move while working quietly.
By having options for flexible seating, students will be able to focus and work harder.My students thrive when they are given the options of using different seats within the classroom. I wish to increase the interest and attention of my students. This project will change the environment in my classroom and therefore increase my students interest in the language arts classroom.
