Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Beginning this year was a little different as my students and I introduced ourselves to one another over the computer on Zoom. I wasn't quite sure what to expect going into it, but the classroom community we have built in just 3 weeks is so heartwarming. I am honored to be the teacher of 25 bright, kind, and inquisitive kindergarten scholars!
Each morning as my students log into Zoom, I am greeted by their beautiful smiles and excitement to learn.
The ability of my students to adapt to learning at home and the assets they bring to the classroom, well "Zoom class" as they call it, are admirable.
My Project
As we begin to prepare the first steps of returning to school campus, I am taking into consideration all of the ways I can best support my students while keeping them safe. My kindergarteners are an energetic bunch, who love to learn! With Covid safety precautions, students will be spending a lot of time in a designated space as we ensure they are maintaining a safe distance from one another.
With flexible seating options like wobbly stools, cushions, and stability balls, my kindergarteners will be able to make the best out of learning from their "personal bubble." I can imagine them bouncing on the balls and wobbly in their chair as we sing along to our favorite songs, write stories, solve math problems, read books and so much more.
This couldn't be a better time to implement flexible seating options and empower students to be independent learners.
