Help me give my students what they need! These wobble chairs will be a great way to reduce restlessness and increase focus. They will allow for some students to move around more freely while working and learning.
My classroom is made up of 32 hardworking 3rd graders from a low-income area in Brooklyn. The school receives 100% free breakfast and lunch. Many of my students are students that are learning English as their second language. In addition, a large percentage of my 32 students are entering third grade already below grade level expectations. Some are lacking social skills and enthusiasm for learning, while others have a hard time focusing. Another issue my school faces is frequent student absences.
Many students have a hard time sitting still for longs periods of time.
My students are high energy and love to move around. I want to help encourage them to keep that energy in the classroom!
My Project
These wobble chairs will be a great way to reduce restlessness and increase focus. They will allow for some students to move around more freely while working and learning. They can be easily moved around the classroom and allow for student choice!
Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them.During independent work times they choose a location in the classroom that works for them.
Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating. They almost always make good choices about where they sit, are more engaged, and get more work completed than when they are just sitting at their desk.
