Help me give my students flexible seating that will be used at the kidney table in my room for small group instruction, one on one teacher time and as a reward for good behavior.
I am a second year teacher and every day I learn something from my two classes. I have a total of 42 third grade ELA/Social Studies students and they have various educational/cultural backgrounds which creates a diverse classroom community. I love each of them for what they bring to our family and want to foster their unique talents and improve their weaknesses.
"Every student can learn.
Just not on the same day or in the same way." ---George Evans. This quote describes my students perfectly because they need me to use differential instruction to meet their various needs. They are awesome kids and I want to provide them with the tools to be successful in school and in life!
My Project
Right now my students have to move the chairs at their desks every time they want or need to join me for small group instruction at our back table or when they want to sit around the room. I believe that they would benefit from flexible seating because it would provide my wigglers some time away from the hard backed chairs and let them bounce a little while learning. This will also be used as a reward for students who are following our school's PANDA core values. If a student is being nice and working hard then they can earn the opportunity to sit on the bouncy seat while at their desk.
