Help me give my students flexible seating options, classroom rugs, a new iPad and Osmo activities to help us learn through technology in a more comfortable environment.
From learning our numbers and letters to experiencing the joy in simple things like recognizing their name for the first time or having lunch in the cafeteria, my students show progress every single day. Each moment is a new learning adventure. Each day brings new growth and challenges that they will tackle with zest and enthusiasm.
Together we are striving to create a safe community of learners filled with compassion, kindness, and concern for others.
We are practicing important life skills such as following directions, cleaning up our own messes, sharing and taking turns, being honest and truthful in all our interactions, and being safe, respectful, and responsible.
Kindergarten should be an environment filled with hands-on learning experiences. When my students are able to engage in these activities first hand, they better understand the world around them and their place in it.
My Project
My students are amazing! They have so many great ideas and are so excited to be students. Sometimes we have so much energy in kindergarten that it is difficult to control our bodies enough for our minds to be able to work.
We know that the same things that help ADHD students can benefit all of our students.
When little people are expected to spend 6 hours in a classroom we have to find creative ways to help control their abundance of energy.
By introducing my students to flexible seating options I hope to be able to help them harness that extra energy while still being able to get our work done. Wobble seats, balance ball chairs, balance discs and bouncy bands will allow them to move while learning, without distracting their friends. In order for these items to be safe on our tile floors I would like to be able to place area rugs under each of their tables.
I would also like to provide my students with the opportunity to practice using technology in the classroom. To do that we will need an iPad and some of the Osmo kits. Many of my kindergarten students need an extra challenge to keep their learning fun and engaging and these tools will be an amazing opportunity for them. We will also need storage bins to keep our classroom organized and accessible by all.
