Our students live in the Northwest part of the city and are a wonderful group of students. This year we are teaching special education in grades 4-8.
We have a very wide spread of reading and math abilities in these groups.
Teaching the various age levels is a real challenge because students are all at different levels. We are all new to our school this year and are trying to build a warm, rich environment for our students. Many of our students are visual learners and could benefit from multi-sensory activities. However, this requires having the supplies to carry this out. This is where we need your help. Any amount would be great, and would be put to good use! We appreciate your generosity and compassion for our students.
My Project
Being a middle schooler can be tough... but being a middle schooler with learning challenges can be even tougher. Throughout our school day we see students 4th-8th grade in all subject areas. Something that would help make our classroom a more fitting environment would be the tools listed here.
Many of our students struggle to sit still during their learning and need adaptive environments and tools to aid in their learning.
We have found that students do better when in a flexible environment that best fits their needs. Tools like specific chairs, fidgets, and more help them to be successful!
