Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach 4th grade in a school in Huntington Park. My students are hardworking and excited to learn. They lose themselves in their books, and push through all of the tricky math problems they come across!
I find my students have a difficult time staying focused with the traditional desk/chair classroom structure.
I introduced some flexible seating options (crates, pillows, lap desks, etc.) and found that my students were more focused during their independent working time when they could choose where to sit. I would like to provide my students with more flexible seating options to support their diverse learning needs.
My Project
These Flexible seating options will help my scholars stay more focused during their independent and group projects. The couch will be a great space for my students to curl up with a great book, or meet with their teacher to review important math concepts. The floor chairs and pillows will make sitting on the floor so much more comfortable. Students will be able to take these seats and find a great nook to write their new narrative stories!
