My students need wobble cushions, flexible chairs, and other small types of seating to allow them to spread out and work around the room productively in a comfortable environment.
My first graders are enthusiastic, curious, and energetic students. We are trying to maximize our space by incorporating flexible seating in our classroom. Our classroom is a warm, welcoming, and safe space for all of us.
Everyone learns differently and I know my students work best when they have the freedom to choose where they work.
First grade is an important year for students to learn core reading and math skills. As there are so many of us it would be beneficial for students to be able to spread out around the room and work in areas they will be most productive.
My Project
Everyone learns differently, therefore, everyone learns best in different environments. Allowing students to pick where they can sit to work, using flexible seating options, will give them a sense of independence and allow them to focus more on their work. My students enjoy being able to work around the room on floor spaces, however giving them various seating options would make them even more excited and engaged in their work. I've chosen to get wobble cushions, seat wedges, seat cushions, and kids beach chairs to give my students different options for how they can work around the room - whether it's in their seat with a cushion or in a different area around the room.
Also, as there are so many students in our class it is beneficial for students to be able to spread out around the room and work in their best learning environment.
